How to Create a Service as a Provider?

This article explains the steps involved in creating a Service on Schemon.

As a provider, you can create services that your clients can book directly through Schemon. Each service can have its own price, duration, availability, booking rules, cancellation policy, and other settings.

Open the Services Page

First, make sure you are in the Provider View. You can switch to the Provider View by clicking the blue button at the top-right of the screen. Then:

  1. Go to Services.

  2. Click New Service.

Add Your Service Information

Start by entering the basic information about the service. Add:

  • A service name

  • A description explaining what the service includes

When you are finished, click Continue.

Set the Price, Duration, and Delivery Method

Next, configure how the service will be delivered. You can set:

  • The service price

  • The appointment duration

  • The payment method

  • The delivery method

  • The appointment location

For example, you could create a 30-minute online consultation delivered through a video call. Depending on your service, you may collect payment during the appointment or accept payment online through Schemon.

Click Continue when you are ready.

Set Your Availability

You can now decide when customers are allowed to book this service. You can either:

  • Make the service available on specific days and during specific hours

  • Make it available throughout the day

  • Temporarily mark the service as unavailable

This is useful if you want to create a service now but do not want customers to book it yet. You can also control the visibility of the service. If you deactivate its visibility, customers will not be able to see it.

After configuring your availability, click Continue.

Configure Booking Rules

Booking rules help you control how and when appointments can be made.

Minimum Advance Booking Time

You can specify how far in advance a customer must book. For example, if you set this to 4 hours, customers will only be able to book appointments that are at least four hours away.

This gives you enough time to prepare and prevents unexpected last-minute bookings.

Cancellation Deadline

You can also specify how far in advance a customer must cancel. For example, setting an 8-hour cancellation deadline helps reduce last-minute gaps in your schedule.

You can also provide a cancellation policy message that customers will see when booking or cancelling. Example:

"Please cancel at least eight hours in advance. Cancellations after this period may not be eligible for reimbursement."

Preparation Time

Some services require preparation before the appointment. You can reserve preparation time before each booking so another appointment cannot be scheduled immediately beforehand.

Post-Appointment Buffer Time

You can also reserve time after an appointment. This can be useful if you need time to:

  • Take notes

  • Complete follow-up work

  • Research something for the client

  • Prepare for your next appointment

For example, you could reserve five minutes before the appointment and ten minutes afterwards.

Add Preparation Instructions for the Customer

You can provide instructions that customers should follow before the appointment. For example:

"Please prepare your questions in advance. We have 30 minutes, so let's make the most of it."

This helps customers arrive prepared and allows you to use the appointment time more effectively.

Choose Whether to Automatically Approve Appointments

Schemon can automatically approve new appointments for you. Automatic approval can be useful when your booking rules already give you plenty of advance notice.

For example, if customers must book at least 48 hours in advance, you may feel comfortable automatically approving appointments.

For bookings that can happen on short notice, you may prefer manual approval so you can confirm that you are actually available.

Configure Notifications

Depending on your plan, Schemon can notify you about appointments through options such as:

  • Email

  • SMS

  • Phone calls

Choose the notification methods that work best for you.

Review and Create Your Service

Before publishing the service, Schemon gives you a final review screen. Check that everything is correct, including:

  • Price

  • Duration

  • Availability

  • Booking rules

  • Cancellation settings

  • Preparation and buffer times

  • Customer instructions

If you notice a mistake, you can go back and edit the relevant section.

When everything looks correct, click Create Service.

Your service is now ready for customers to book, provided that it is active and visible.
